3 Swaminarayan sadhus awarded 18 months RI

The 14-year-old boy had lodged a police complaint on July 15, 2005 against the three for repeated sexual harassment.

Three sadhus of Swaminarayan sect were sentenced to imprisonment for sexually harassing a boy, studying in Gurukul in Khambha town of Amreli district.

Judge H H Kanara of Dhari court on Thursday, sentenced Radha Raman Swami and Vishnuswami to 18 months' imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1000 each and awarded 14 months' imprisonment to Mahaprasadswami with a fine of Rs 500, sources said.

According to prosecution, the 14-year-old boy, studying in Khambha Gurukul, had lodged a police complaint on July 15, 2005 against the three for repeated sexual harassment.

The three, who had been absconding, were arrested on July 21, 2005, police said.
