The health authorities have opened the swine flu awareness centres for people coming to Jammu and Kashmir from others parts of India.

Three swine flu awareness centres with dos and don'ts and other precautionary measures have been opened at Lakhanpur, base town of Mata Vaishno Devi and Banihal.

Out of nine swine flu reported cases, three were found positive in the state.

Three patients from Ladakh, including two army personnel, tested positive couple of days back.

Meanwhile, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, has sent the samples of three more persons to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), New Delhi, for tests on Monday.

The GMCH will start special out-patient department (OPD) for flu patients in next couple of days.

"As it is the ongoing season of flu and swine flu, too, has similar symptons like the former, we will start a special OPD for flu patients. In the OPD, we will be able to detect the swine flu in time. This is a precautionary measure for screening the suspected swine flu patients," said GMCH principal Dr Ghanshyam Dev.
