30 fresh dengue cases in Delhi

Killer dengue mosquitoes continue to spread their tentacles in the capital with as many as 30 fresh cases being reported from the premier health institute AIIMS alone in the past 24 hours till 8 am on Friday.

Of the 30 new cases, four patients are from the AIIMS campus, said a government official.

Overall, till Friday 114 patients suffering from dengue are being treated in the hospital of which total 26 are from the AIIMS campus. Fourteen patients have left for the home after getting medical treatment, said the official.

So far 17 people have died even as the number of people suffering from the vector-borne disease has surpassed 700-mark in the city.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's son-in-law and two grandsons, who are being treated for suspected dengue at AIIMS, are in a stable condition.

Over 200 dengue patients have been treated since March at AIIMS, whereas 191 cases have been reported since August.

Meanwhile, the NDMC served a notice to AIIMS for lack of proper sanitary conditions.

Officials also dismissed reports of several notices being served on the institute for lack of sanitary measures.

Dengue virus is spread by the bite of female Aedes mosquito that breeds in clean stagnant water.
