30-year-old charged with murder

The police on Thursday arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly killing a professor and later setting the body on fire. The accused allegedly committed the crime, as he suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair with the victim, police said.

Satyabir Singh was arrested from Govindpuram area of Ghaziabad. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said Rishi Kumar Singh, a civics lecturer at Gandhi Inter College at Khekra area of Baghpat, had come to Ghaziabad on December 31, 2010. However, he had gone missing after that. “His wife lodged a complaint after his disappearance.

During investigations, we came to know that the victim had gone to the house of the accused. The accused had allegedly caught his wife and the victim in a compromising position,” the SSP said.
