The 30th batch of 887 Amarnath pilgrims on Friday left for the holy shrine in the south Himalayas from here amid tight security, police said.

As many as 495 men, 131 women, 10 children and 251 sadhus left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here around 0450 hours this morning in a cavalcade of 31 vehicles for the 13,500-feet high cave shrines.

With Friday's batch, as many as 74,006 pilgrims have left Jammu in 30th batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.
