"We are getting good response from our constables about "3rdEye" as they can book violators on the basis of an authentic proof. All challans are sent to the official address provided by the offender after the pictures have been verified. Out of several pictures sent for verification today, 60 persons were fined," said a senior traffic police official.

From Thursday, the number of challans is likely to rise since policemen will be more familiar with the device and would click better pictures, the official added. In an effort to keep an eye on violators and control incidents of road rage, the city traffic police joined hands with mobile manufacturer Nokia to launch the traffic management project called 3rdEye.

The project, aimed to leverage technology as an enabler to curb traffic disruption in Millennium City, will be implemented on all major roads including MG Road and Gurgaon Expressway.

Denave, a technology-powered sales enabling services provider, has created a software - Tselina - that will be integrated with Nokia E5 to capture and report traffic rule violations.

The mobile set will click photographs of offenders and send the same to the control room for preparing challans.
