4-day international literacy workshop to begin today

STATE RESOURCE Centre for Adult Education (Indore) and Asia Pacific Centre for UNESCO will jointly organise a four-day mobile workshop in Indore from tomorrow. Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das, Vijay Prakash from Ministry of Human Resource Development (New Delhi) and ACCU Japan Director Shibao Tamako will inaugurate the workshop at 10.00 am at Hotel Sayaji tomorrow.

Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das, Vijay Prakash from Ministry of Human Resource Development (New Delhi) and ACCU Japan Director Shibao Tamako will inaugurate the workshop at 10.00 am at Hotel Sayaji tomorrow.

The workshop is part of seven-day event being organised in Sri Lanka and India. The first phase of the workshop was organised in Sri Lanka from February 2 to 4. Representatives from nine countries who have been working on women and girls’ issues would attend the workshop.

Apart from these representatives, officers from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Ministry of Education of Sri Lanka will also attend the workshop.

The main objectives of the workshop are to strengthen the network of the Literacy Resource Centre and to share the experiences of different nations on the issues related to women and girls. The workshop would also build the capacity of participants to contribute to a literate Asia.
