IN YET another instance of government doctors playing truant, as many as four senior medical officers were found absent at the rural health centres of the district during the surprise raids conducted by chief medical officer Dr Shantimal Singhavi on Saturday morning.

This was the second time in the last three days when doctors were found missing from the primary health centres. The CMO has ordered to stop the month's salary of all the four medical officers.
The officiating Additional Director (health) Dr GC Srivastava has also sent a report to the government against 42 doctors in the division, who were found absent at the CHCs and PHCs on more than one occasion.
In a surprise inspection, CMO Dr Singhavi reached the Dhanupur primary health centre and found two senior medical officers Dr OP Shukla and Dr P Alam absent.
The PHC was lying in a poor state. The wards were dirty and there was no facility for patients. In the absence of doctors, the pharmacist was examining the patients.
The same conditions also existed at the Amaypur primary health centre. The two medical officers Dr Hasan Sagir and Dr Kripal Singh posted at the PHC were absent. The insanitary conditions existed in the wards.

{{/usCountry}}Dr Singhavi said July's salary of Dr Hasan Sagir, Dr Kripal Singh, Dr OP Shukla and Dr P Alam has been stopped after they were found absent at the Amaypur and Dhanupur PHCs. Their salary would be released only on the report of the gram pradhan that they regularly examined patients at the PHC.
"In the absence of doctors, both the PHCs were lying in a poor condition with no proper facilities for patients," he added.
Earlier, on Thursday also two medical officers posted on contractual basis were found absent at the Bamela and Dulahapur New Primary Health Centres, in Handia. Both the New PHCs were found closed during the CMO's inspection.
Meanwhile, AD (health) Dr GC Srivastava has sent a report to the government against 42 doctors in the division, who were found absent at the CHCs and PHCs. He said it would also be ensured that the doctors behave properly with the patients.
