4 policemen surrender in Sohrabuddin encounter case

Hours after a senior Gujarat police officer, accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, surrendered before the CID, three policemen from Rajasthan, reports Rathin Das.

Hours after a senior Gujarat police officer, accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, surrendered before the CID, three policemen from Rajasthan wanted in the same case gave themselves up in a local court in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Abdul Rehman Sheikh, Himanshu Singh and Ram Singh surrendered before the metropolitan magistrate. They are likely to be arrested as they are wanted by the Gujarat CID and also because their anticipatory bail has been rejected by the Sessions Court.

Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police M L Parmar was taken into custody for questioning by the investigators dealing with the case under Supreme Court orders.

Parmar, who surrendered in the presence of mediapersons at the police headquarters in Gandhinagar, said he had become a victim of the infighting among top IPS officers in the state. He denied involvement in the Sohrabuddin killing.

With Parmar's arrest, total seven policemen have been taken into custody till now, including three IPS officers D G Vanzara, R K Pandian and Dinesh Kumar M N
