40 hurt as train derails in Maharashtra

The 113 down Surat-Bhusawal passenger derailed at 5 am on Friday. The cause of derailment is not yet known.

Over forty people were injured when a passenger train derailed between Navapur and Kolde stations on western railway route early on Friday morning.

The 113 down Surat-Bhusawal passenger derailed at 5 am, railway sources said, adding that 40 were injured but there were no casualties in the incident.

The accident spot is on the border of Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Railway teams have rushed to the site and rescue and restoration work is on in full swing, the sources said.

The reason for the mishap was not immediately known but an inquiry would be ordered into it, they added.
