The polling, which was slow in the initial hours picked up as the day advanced, an election department said in Chandigarh adding that no untoward incident was reported from any place.

The maximum of about 48 per cent polling was reported from the Indri Assembly constituency and the lowest around 19 per cent from the Ambala Cantt constituency.

There was a minor clash between supporters of the Congress and the ruling Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in Narwana where the main contestants are Chautala and working President of the HPCC Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Except for some minor problems to a couple of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), polling went on peacefully and smoothly in the entire state.

Opponents of Bhajan Lal objected to his voting in the glare of the camera on the plea that the EC had banned videography inside the polling stations.
