42 pc children immunised during pulse polio drive

The impact of the scorching heat was also evident at the polio booths with a turnout of only 42 per cent. About 1,821 polio booths were set up in the district out of which 1,065 were set up in rural areas while 756 were set up in urban areas.Besides, about 233 polio booths were also set up at identified sensitive brick kiln establishments in the district.

The remaining children would be administered polio vaccine in the door-to-door campaign which will start from Monday.District health information officer Dr SC Joshi informed that a target of 6.49 lakh kids was set for the polio immunisation drive.

He further informed that door-to-door campaign for administering polio drops to children would start from April 10 to 14 and a total of 1,109 teams had been constituted for this campaign.

He added that 10 teams of 24 senior officials led the drive for the resistance houses.
