The 29-year-old from Cookbridge, playing for North Leeds, smashed six sixes, a four and a two in an over, which included two no-balls.

Hughes went on to score an unbeaten 126, helping his team beat Hall Park by 86 runs in the Airedale and Wharfedale League’s Waddilove Cup, reports The Sun.

“The first three balls went for six but I didn’t realise the first was a no-ball. I pushed the next delivery, which was also a no-ball, to mid-wicket for two to reach my hundred. The next three went for six and the last for a four. It seemed to take forever, because of the time spent looking for the ball,” he said.

Bowler Craig Hobson who overstepped in two deliveries and had the first delivery even dropped by a fielder over the boundary rope for a six, said of his anguish: “I wanted the ground to open up”.
