THE POLICE have exposed a gang who used to kill innocent persons for getting insurance claims against the policies, which they had drawn under the conspiracy. Five persons including a woman all from Indore have been arrested.
The arrested are advocate and insurance surveyor Rajvir Singh Arora, his associate Navin Neema, Rajesh Rathore, Kishore Chawdi and Kusum.
According to police, the accused took life insurance policies to the tune of Rs 25 lakh in the name of one Mahendra Kushwah from various companies. The accused Rajesh and Kishore on July 18 last year killed a Bihari labour who had come in contact with them by running a vehicle over him near Chintaman Temple here.
The accused put a diary in his pocket mentioning his identity as Mahendra Kushwah and the telephone numbers. When the Neelganga police recovered the body from the accident site, they contacted the accused on the said telephone numbers.
The accused confirmed the body as of Mahendra Kushwah and cremated it in Ujjain. Then insurance claims were lodged in the companies by producing Kusum as wife of the deceased. The accused even managed to get Rs 7 lakh so far.
Moreover, Kishore and Rajesh had killed one Mukesh Chouhan at Dewas Road here in March 2004 following a similar modus operandi. Rajvirsingh had come at that time as insurance surveyor from the company and later joined the duo in perpetration. SP Squad incharge Anil Singh Chouhan and constable Chandrabhan played active role in nabbing the gang.
