Unfazed by attacks by militants to sabotage the fourth phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir, an estimated 50.68 per cent voters on Monday exercised their franchise in Ladakh and Udhampur constituencies, the state's chief electoral officer BL Nimesh said here.
"Udhampur and Ladakh parliamentary constituencies, which went to polls on Monday polled 41.62 per cent and 59.74 per cent votes at the end of polling at 1700 hours," he told reporters.
"However, the poll percentage is provisional and is likely to increase," the CEO said.
Despite violence by militants to sabotage polls, there was increase in the voter turnout this time than in 1999 Lok Sabha election figures of 38.97 per cent, Nimesh said. But the polling in Ladakh registered a fall compared to 1999 when it was 81.17 per cent.
