SEVERAL IRREGULARITIES have been detected in approval of building maps, particularly of muti-storeyed complexes in the city by Allahabad Development Authority (ADA).
Sources said that in compliance to the high court's order the ADA has identified over 50 buildings including 22 highrise at Sardar Patel Marg and Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Civil Lines where there is no provision of parking.
The irregularities came to light following the High Court's directive to the ADA to search out those buildings which have been constructed without having a provision of parking in their respective premises.
Sources alleged that ADA authorities had passed many building maps on the assurance that the owners would provide parking lot in near future. But in fact they broke their promises and constructed the complexes especially in Civil Lines area without allocating space for parking.
Ironically many builders were successful in getting passed their maps by showing parking in other's plots.
It may be mentioned that during the checking of provision for parking, the authorities have found that majority of buildings have no parking area.
On investigation of maps it has been found that parking as mentioned in the map were not provided in these buildings. The place shown for parking was being used for other purposes.
Now, instead of taking any action against guilty, the ADA has decided to restore parking on its own expenses. Interestingly, no penalty is being imposed on guilty builders.

{{/usCountry}}According to norms, the map is passed following an inspection by an ADA official but in practice it is done on paper only for reasons best known to authorities.
ADA City Planner Swaraj Ganguly said normally junior engineer of the area concerned checked the map through visiting the place. However in some cases it was not feasible to verify the place physically. Meanwhile, ADA has started its drive in Civil Lines . On the second consecutive day,Tuesday, the ADA squad carried out an operation to ensure parking in buildings.
