The outbreak of swine flu, is taking more and more students into its fold in Pune.
Six more patients, including four school students, tested positive on Sunday.
The total number of swine flu cases in Pune is 46, of which 20 are students from Abhinav English school.
“Two students from Symbiosis, two from New India School and a married couple, who last week returned from the UK have tested positive,” said Pradeep Awate, head of state swine flu cell.
Total five schools — Abhinav English (20), Abhinav Marathi (1), Symbiosis (9), Seva Sadan (1) and New India school (3) — have decided to shut down for a week after their students tested positive.
The Pune Municipal Corporation has constituted a coordination committee comprising of health officials and education department.
The municipal corporation commissioner Mahesh Zagade said: “The committee will meet on Monday to discuss the situation.” A senior health official told Hindustan Times, that, “a decision may be taken to shut down all schools for a week from city limits.”
Indian Medical Association (IMA) also appealed the citizens that it is not a situation to panic as things were under control.

{{/usCountry}}“Parents are insisting on getting all the tests done for their children even in normal cases. We request all the citizens not to confuse between swine flu and other minor viral infections,” said Dilip Sarda, president (Pune chapter), medical association.
