The MIDC police have decided to move the kidnap and murder case of a six-year-old to a fast track court.
The police have arrested a mother-son duo for allegedly kidnapping and murdering Sahil Dalvi in February.
“The heinousness of the crime and brutality with which the child was murdered prompted us to take up the matter as a fast track case,” said Senior Inspector Pradeep Suryavanshi.
Sahil, a student of an Andheri-based Jesuit school, had gone missing on February 3. His decomposed body was found near a river in Karad 20 days later, the police said.
Hindustan Times had reported in May as to how a Pune-based detective solved the case and submitted evidence to the police accusing one of Dalvi’s neighbours, Umesh Jadhav (20), of being involved in the kidnap and murder.
Later in July, the Crime Branch claimed to have solved the case and arrested Jadhav and his mother Chaya (50). The duo confessed to have kidnapped the boy for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.
