At least six persons, including a woman, were on Monday killed and poll-related communal clashes and arson broke out as sporadic violence marred Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh which witnessed nearly 60 per cent of the 3.74 crore voters exercising their franchise.
A woman Shashi Arora was killed as she was caught in crossfire between two groups in Bhind town. In Ater constituency, one Neeraj was killed at Chachda village and Kunwar Singh Bhadoria at village Khurg during gunbattle between rivals. One person each was killed in Lahar constituency, village Daboh and Alampur.
In late night violence one Vijayram Sharma was killed in exchange of fire between two groups in Lahar constituency in Bhind while two persons were injured in a similar incident in Gadpara village falling under Ron constituency.
Curfew was imposed at Chhatripura police station area of Indore following incidents of stone pelting between members of minority and majority community and setting on fire of vehicles over poll-related matters.
Police used force for nearly 15 minutes to control the situation which was tense but under control.
The incidents followed reports of alleged poll rigging in some booths of the area after which members of the majority community objected resulting in the skirmishes.
