7 killed in road accident at Ramban in J&K

Seven people, including two children, are killed as the vehicle in which they were travelling rolled down in a deep gorge.

Seven people, including two children, were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling rolled down in a deep gorge at Panthyal in Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday morning.

According to Ramban SP Basant Rath, "All seven people including two females, two children and driver of the Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK08A-3814 were killed in the accident."

The vehicle in which they travelled rolled down into 200 feet deep gorge at Panthyal near Banihal in Ramban, some 140 km north of Jammu on the National Highway, the SP said adding, "This was one of the similar spots from where the national highway was closed for last seven days due to landslide and shooting stones."

However, police have recovered bodies of four of the deceased of the road accident and it takes time to recover remaining three because of shooting stones in the area.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Azad Bhat, resident of Lassu in Kulgam, his 9-year-old daughter Aasa Akhtar, driver Manjoor Ahmed Parray of Kangan and Ghulam Nabi Hajaam of Sonawari in the valley.
