Over 70 per cent of the 13.1 million electors in Haryana voted in the 12th assembly elections on Tuesday, amidst reports of violence in which one person was killed.
A total of 1,222 candidates, including 67 women, contested in the 90 assembly seats in the state.
In the Guhla assembly constituency, polling agent Jyoti Ram died after being involved in a scuffle between supporters of Congress candidate Dillu Ram and an independent contestant Kulwant Baazigar.
Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Sajjan Singh, however, said that it was yet to be ascertained whether the person died due to poll-related violence.
“It can be confirmed only after an autopsy,” he said.
Two persons were injured when members of rival groups at Naya Baans village in the Garhi Sampla Kiloi constituency opened fire at each other.
