Seventy-two people, including children, fell sick and were admitted to various hospitals after consuming ice cream from a vendor in Jammu, official sources said.
"As many as 72 children and adults fell ill after comsuming kulfi in Bazigar Colony in Bagh-i-Bahu area of Jammu city and were admitted to GMC and SMGS hospitals in Jammu," they said.
They started vomitting and complaining of abdominal pain late on Monday night which created panic in the area. Their parents rushed them to the hospital around midnight, sources said.
"All of them are out of danger. Most of such cases were being treated, all possible medicare was being provided to the chidren admitted in the hospital," Nazir Ahmed Deputy Medical Superintendent, SMGS hospital told PTI.
The doctors said that out of 72 people who fell sick, 29 children are still undergoing treatment, while the rest have been discharged from the hospital.
All the affected children and adults had consumed kulfi sold by a vendor at Bagh-e-Bahu area, sources said adding the ice cream seller has been arrested for risking the lives of a large number of people.
