Eight kg RDX were recovered on Monday from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district in stepped up operations by police in the run-up to the Independence Day celebrations in the state.

Besides the RDX, two hand grenades, 165 detonators with wire and 84 rounds of AK ammunition were recovered from the hideout at the forest area of Rain-Kapran, 80 km from Srinagar, in the district, official sources said.
However, no militant was present at the hideout during the operation, they said.
