800 tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Nepal, 30 still missing

More than 800 people from Maharashtra are stranded in Nepal, according to the state government. Of these, 30 are missing and their relatives have been in constant touch with the state machineries.

According officials, of the 1,000 tourists who were in Nepal on Saturday, 196 had returned to Maharashtra safe and sound.

“The others are still in Kathmandu and other places in Nepal. All of them are safe and will reach home in the next few days,” said Suhas Diwase from the disaster management unit.

The disaster management unit has set up a Ham radio support cell to establish contact with the people in Nepal.

According to an official, the cell has high frequency and very high frequency sets.
