81 file nominations in Kerala on last day

JD stalwart MP Veerendrakumar in Kozhikode, sitting MPs AC Jose of the Congress in Thrissur and Francis George of Kerala Congress (LDF) in Idukki, filed their nominations on the last day.

Janata Dal stalwart MP Veerendrakumar in Kozhikode, sitting MPs AC Jose of the Congress in Thrissur and Francis George of Kerala Congress (LDF) in Idukki, are among 81 aspirants who filed their nominations on the last day of the process for the Lok Sabha polls in Kerala, taking the total to 235.

State Electricity Minister K Muraleedharan entered the fray for the assembly bypoll in Wadakkancherry to be held along with Parliament elections.

Prominent contestants to file papers on Friday included Congress V Balaram who is taking on Veerendrakumar in Kozhikode, NA Mohammad of Congress in Kasargode, VS Vijayaraghavan (Congress-Palakkad), KA Thulasi (Congress-Ottapalam), Benny Behanan (Congress-Idukki) and Sudhakaran of BJP in Kollam.

The scrutiny will be held April 24 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is on April 25.
