?84 riots victims meet Jaiswal, submit memo

MEMBERS OF the Gurudwara Sankat Haran Dukh Nivaran Committee submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal today. They were demanding proper arrangements for providing rehabilitation money to the 1984 riots victims.

MEMBERS OF the Gurudwara Sankat Haran Dukh Nivaran Committee submitted a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal today. They were demanding proper arrangements for providing rehabilitation money to the 1984 riots victims.

They informed him about the problems faced by the ’84 riots victims in getting their compensation. They also discussed the statement issued by the Union Government in connection with the compensation money.

According to them the government had announced compensation to 22,000 families of Punjab. They also demanded compensation of Rs 2,00,000 pre family in Kanpur. It may mentioned that in 1984 Government had promised to give Rs 2,00,000 riots victims for stopping the migration of victims to Punjab. But till now they were waiting for their compensation, they said.

They also urged the minister to spare the victims from producing any evidence and compensation amount should be paid as per the FIRs lodged at that time.
The riots victims who did not migrate to Punjab at that time should also be given the compensation, they demanded.
