About 2,500 illegal hoardings have been put up from Amausi to Polytechnic crossing in connivance with LMC officials for a price. But, the revenue doesn’t go into the LMC coffers. It remains in the officials’ pockets, sources say.

The municipal Chief is reportedly dismayed over some stunning disclosures after the preliminary inquiry of illegal hoardings. But, what’s more astonishing is the fact that the all these hoardings hang freely along the VIP Road.

Officially, sources say, the LMC has been getting the payments for only 460 hoardings only.

Municipal commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya has served a showcause notice on superintendent publicity and enforcement VK Jaiswal over the issue, who is the incharge of the department’s hoarding business. LMC rules reveal that no hoarding can be put up without the consent of superintendent publicity.

The name of another higher official has cropped up in the whole issue, according to the LMC sources. But, the municipal chief is in no mood to compromise on this issue and the departmental action against these officials is on the cards.

But, the role of some LMC officials is also suspect, who are also pulling strings to maintain the status quo.

LMC officials say, the hoarding mafia is so strong that it will not allow any municipal commissioner to stay in the city if he doesn’t dance to their tune. The municipal chief was not available for the comments when contacted by the correspondent.
