Although Seema Pahuja, the councillor of Ward No 11, feels that a lot has been done in terms of development, residents of the area allege that the primary problems — bad roads, erratic water supply and water logging — continue to persist.
Residents also complained that a fruit market on the main road has existed for the last decade and chokes the road, causing traffic to move at a snail's pace.
A resident of sector 7 said, “A fruit market on the main road and parked cars on both sides of the road make it difficult to even cross that stretch. Despite residents complaining regularly, no action has been taken so far.” Most residents feel that in the year since the elections happened, many developmental initiatives could have been taken but have not been implemented since the councillor neglects the area.
A resident of Sector 7 lamented, “The councillor had never been supportive. Whatever progress has taken place is because of resident welfare associations (RWAs).” Some have stopped complaining and take both the area's problems and the authorities' indifference as a constant.
Another resident of Krishna Colony said, “In the last so many years, we have resigned ourselves to this way of living as we know that the authorities are not going to clear up our issues. We are increasingly becoming immune to these recurrent problems.”
