We put our heart and soul into decorating our houses. Then why keep our pooch’s space empty? Give your pet the perfect personal space. Firstly, decide on the kennel. You could either buy a cushioned kennel or get a wooden one made by your local carpenter for about 450-500.
Get creative
With the kennel in place, you can start doing up the space. “One can hang a bell or a tag on the kennel, with the dog’s name on it," says Malavika Sharma, a dog owner. Sticking pictures of your dog and his playmates on the kennel is also a great idea.
Next, look for a comfortable bed — be it a light comfortable mat or the various fluffy beds available at the pet stores. “Dogs love to cuddle around; so you can add a soft cushion to the kennel,” says Mohan Kadam of Windsor, Khan Market. Such beds are available for 250-500. The stylish ones will be costlier.
Keeping it busy
Place your dog’s favourite toys next to his bed. “Choose toys according to your pet’s behaviour and needs. You could also leave him with a ‘chewy’ or chew bone to keep him busy,” says Ravi Kapoor, the owner of Puppy Pet shop in Vasant Kunj.

Do-it-yourself
Get thick cardboard sheets, a cutter, tape, chart paper and a paint box. Cut the cardboard and tape it together to make the three walls. Prepare a roof separately and tape it on the top. Use a lot of tape to make the frame sturdy. Once the basic structure is ready, either paint it or stick a chart paper on to the entire outer side.Now get creative with the paints, and show your skill.
