Air-India has unveiled its new plans for East and Southeast Asia by announcing flights to Hong Kong, Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur from New Delhi Thursday.
"Earlier, flyers had to go through various hubs for connecting flights to travel east. But with the new non-stop flights to these destinations, they can now fly conveniently and in comfort," said Air-India's commercial manager V.K. Verma.
To aid the expansion, Air-India plans to acquire three more Airbus A-310 aircraft that would help with the scheduling of these non-stop flights, Verma told reporters here.
The New Delhi-Hong Kong-Seoul flights will initially be operated four times a week - Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays - at return fares of Rs.31,600 ($725).
On the Bangkok route, Air-India will operate six flights a week with the lowest return ticket costing Rs.12,500 ($290).
Verma also said there were plans to consolidate existing routes in the eastern sector. Among them, Air-India will double the two weekly flights between New Delhi and Shanghai from July 27.
The airline will also increase its direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from thrice a week to a daily service from this winter, he added.
