Dementia is a forgetful illness. Sometimes the Congress has it, sometimes the BJP has it. After all, if you’ve been long enough in the business, it’s only fair you want to forget about it. Take Suresh Kalmadi, who is pleading hard and pleading strong that he doesn’t remember things. We are happy to not remember things... But someone remembers.

But, if we don’t remember things, who does? Mr Kalmadi has understandably forgotten things. Think of Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past. No one, technically, remembers it. Forgetting is a function of remembering. And perhaps Mr Kalmadi, forgetful soul and 0lympian person, doesn’t quite remember what it’s like.

And that’s all there is to this editorial. Because we certainly have forgotten how it’s supposed to end. Unless we remember not to forget.
