It has been six days since the death of 20-year-olds Ekant Naidu and his friend Swaroop Sareen. A speeding Maruti Esteem car hit their motorcycle and dragged the two for over 70 feet in Indirapuram.
The police registered a case and also impounded the car. But when the question of arresting the culprit is raised, nothing has been done till now.
Ekant's mother Anupama Naidu is unconsolable and broken. "When will I get justice? Is there any one to help me against this corrupt and ineffective system? Is there any law to get the accused behind the bars after he has killed two young men?" she asks.
After killing the two youths on July 25, Gajender Gupta, the man who was driving the car, got himself admitted in Fortis Hospital for minor injuries. The victim's family claims that after he got to know about the deaths, Gupta shifted to the ICU of a private hospital.
"Gupta and his family were in a party mood at the deluxe room of the private hospital at Vaishali. No one from his family
came to sympathise with us, though he lives nearby," said Ekant's mother. Her husband died a few years ago and she is left with her younger son Arjun Naidu (12) now.

"The police registered a case and took away the car and the motorbike. They registered an FIR only after we put pressure.
But they did not arrest the driver of the car on the pretext that he was injured. The Investigating Officer is on leave and the police are dragging the case. It is clear they are trying to protect the accused," said Pushkar Gosain, Ekant's uncle.
"The car was being driven at over 100 kmph," said the relatives of the victims. While Swaroop was crushed under the car's wheels, Ekant bounced over the windscreen, several feet high due to the impact.
Sudhanshu Lalit, Swaroop's relative, said, "The car not only killed Swaroop and Ekant, it hit another car."
The relatives of the victims also claimed that there were liquor bottles in the car. "The accused is at large and free. He has also been discharged form the private hospital and the police are doing nothing to arrest him," alleged Anupama.
