The new bus service from Amritsar to Nankana Saheb in Pakistan will become one more escape route for terrorists rather than helping civilians bridge gaps. In the meantime, the arm of terror has reached the southern states in India. Whatever ails our foreign and defence policies that we indulge in the illegal import of arms, explosives, drugs and fake notes and make it easier for criminals to cross borders?

Cornered to quit

Sonia Gandhi’s resignation can’t be considered a sacrifice. It was a compulsion to step out after the mounting pressure from the opposition. It would have been commendable had she resigned before Jaya Bachchan’s disqualification.

Smart ISI, blind India

The facts in P.N. Khera’s article Back to Islamabad (March 23) are quite alarming. It is telling that Pakistani lobbyists successfully bribed members of the 9/11 inquiry commission. The ISI has proved itself quite capable even in the face of US strictures. It is time for India’s foreign policy makers to think twice on dealing with Pakistan and now, even with US agencies.

Waiting for justice

The issuance of warrants against the nine accused in the Jessica Lall murder case is a good step. The media must regularly follow up on the progress made in the case. There is urgent need to amend the CrPC wherever required. The public awaits the outcome. We hope the victims will get justice.

Not just a movie

I confess my inability to appreciate the points made by Suparna Sharma in Grey mindset (March 24) about Rang de Basanti. The ideas of a MiG crash and peaceful protests were sold alongside the idea of shooting dead an elected people’s representative. The idea of educated young people taking a man’s life reeks of a bizarre, if not morbid, ideology.
