It was heartening to read that a single call from Abhishek Singhvi to the Delhi Lieutenant-Governor and the CM stopped the destruction of trees in the name of development (Common wealth squandered, October 31). But this is because the caller is more than equal to the LG/CM. One can say governance is good when an ordinary person makes a similar call and elicits such a positive response.

In politics, one has to rise above principles at times, but Deve Gowda is overdoing it. This ‘humble farmer’ will block any major reform that the BJP wishes to pursue.

The 123 agreement is about the future energy needs of India. But the Left has suddenly started insisting that it is not in the national interest. The PM and his team which negotiated the deal deserve praise. Why can’t the government go ahead with the negotiations regardless of such meaningless criticism?
