He wallows in wealth and is settled in California in the US but campaigns for Congress barefooted and that too all alone.

53-year-old NRI Birbal Gandhi, who belongs to Phagwara, came all the way from the US to campaign for Congress.

He has hired a band and 16 rickshaws decorated with Congress flags and pictures of party President Sonia Gandhi and Congress candidate from Phillaur Santosh Chowdhary.

The "Sonia fan" leads the "cavalcade" sans any party activist as the band plays with frequent halts of the caravan to attract crowds. Displayed on the Rickshaws.
