If you are a fan of sushi and kimonos, you should head to High Street Phoenix this weekend. Organised by Maidoindia, the second edition of the Cool Japan Festival is back with a bang and promises to take things to the next level this time around.
“Japanese food is one of the main attractions this time. The idea is to promote its diversity, which is why all the dishes will be priced below R100,” says Anuj Jodhani, director, Maidoindia. The biggest highlight this year is the Japanese street food festival, Washoku, which will see dishes like sushi, tempura, Okonomiyaki, Yakitori and curry-rice being served.
Apart from the food, the event will also be a hub of cultural activities. About 10 professional Wadiako drummers will come down from Singapore, along with the first-ever non-Japanese Enka (Japanese traditional songs) singer, Sarbjit Singh Chadha. There will also be some indigenous Japanese products on exhibit.
“We got a fabulous response last time, and we only hope with every passing year, Cool Japan continues to bring the country closer to India,” says Jodhani.
