India, by winning the Faridabad one-dayer, got their name written on the record book.
It was the 14th consecutive time that India successfully chased a victory target. With this they equalled West Indies' world record of most consecutive successful chases.
West Indies had made this record between 1984-85 and 1986-87.
The last time India had lost a match while chasing was against New Zealand at Bulawayo on August 26, 2005.
New Zealand had then made 215 and India were bowled out for a paltry 164, giving New Zealand an easy victory by 51 runs.
Since then India have played 22 games, winning 17 and losing five. While India's record defending a target is not that impressive with 3 wins and 5 losses in 8 games, they have maintained a clean slate while chasing a target.
In the above table, the winning streaks of West Indies, England and Australia were interrupted by one 'no-result' match.
If we consider the consecutive wins without any interruption, India hold the world record of most consecutive successful chases on their own (and not shared with any other team). India surpassed South Africa's record of 13 consecutive matches.
Note :
Against Sri Lanka at Jaipur on 31 Oct 2005, India made 303-4 but the winning target was only 299.
