Dr Anita Durani broke her silence on the allegations of the police that her extra martial affair with her colleague, Dr Rajesh Talwar, pushed him into killing his daughter Aarushi. Anita was flanked by her husband Praful Durani who said he supported her.

On relations with the Talwars
Anita said she knows Dr. Rajesh Talwar for 14 years and is very close to him and his family. The doctors began working together and their family ties strengthened. But linking her personally with Dr. Talwar was a lie and blasphemous, Anita said. She also denied reports of wife swapping between the two couples.
On Dr Rajesh Talwar’s arrest
Praful Durani said they were relying on the police to find out the truth, but whatever the police have said so far is all false. Anita said it was very shocking. Everything is false. Nothing is true. All the allegations are baseless. The couple said they still trusted the police and the judiciary to come out with the truth.
On her role and who she thinks murdered the two Anita said she was in Dehradun on May 15 (Aarushi and Hemraj were killed on the intervening night of May 15 and 16). She also said the police haven’t interrogated or questioned her till now (the police, however, said Anita’s statement has been recorded). The couple said nobody from Aarushi’s family could have killed her.

Asked why over 200 calls were made from her mobile to Dr Talwar’s mobile, Anita said the doctor’s wife, Nupur, and she were close friends and it was possible that Mrs. Talwar was using her husband’s mobile phone to speak with her.
On Aarushi and her relations with Hemraj Anita said Aarushi was a lovely girl and like a daughter to her. Anita doubted that Aarushi was ‘close’ to Hemraj since she never shared this with Anita’s daughter, who was Aarushi’s close friend.
