Abducted boy rescued after one year, six held

A six-year-old boy kidnapped in 2005 in Faridabad by a gang of inter-state bag-snatchers has been rescued and his six captors have been arrested in New Delhi.

The six persons, including a woman, were arrested from Lajpat Nagar market area in South Delhi on Thursday when they assembled there to allegedly commit theft, police said on Friday.

Four diamond rings, worth Rs two lakh, and gold chain were recovered from them.

Shubham was kidnapped in October 2005 by the gang led by one Ganesh, operating in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.

Interrogation revealed that the gang used children to divert attention of people and steal bags from vehicles.

With the arrest of Ganesh, Meenakshi, Karan, Rajni, Bablu and Sarju, police also claimed that they have solved about 30 cases of bag snatching.
