THE TEENAGER allegedly abducted from Patna, Abhishek Chandan, has regained consciousness but is unable to recall even his own name let alone recognise others.
For the last three days the boy has been undergoing treatment at the Chirayu Hospital but is yet to come out of his trauma. He seemed to recognise his father, KK Chaudhary today when the latter was around him but could not recount anything else.
While he has been opening his eyes, when shown a newspaper, he was unable to read a word of it. “He neither remembers the name of his school nor the name of his sister,” said his cousin’s brother-in-law Chandan Kumar, an engineer, who lives in Bhopal.
“Abhishek is unable to recall his own first name and when asked just says Chandan and cannot recognise his first name Abhishek,” said his local relative Chandan Kumar.
Given this situation police say they will not be able to record his statement for another couple of days because the boy is still weak and more importantly remembers nothing. “In a couple of days he will gain strength and the memory will come back with that,” they hoped
For police it is vital to record the statement at the earliest in order to nab the criminals. The doctors are constantly monitoring him and feel that in the next couple of days Abhishek will get over the phase and start recalling everything.

Mother, sister to arrive today
ABHISHEK’S mother and elder sister are expected to reach Bhopal on Monday. They have left Patna and will reach here by train. While the family members are delighted to have the boy steadily recovering, they are slightly disappointed at his loss of academic year as he was abducted during the exams.
