The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from the prominent trader family to which the boy belongs. The abductors —prima facie two in number — have been identified and though they are presently absconding, they would be arrested soon, superintendent of police (SP) of Rewa, Akash Jindal said.

The SP said the boy was abducted before his school Central Academy in Rewa at around noon on Friday. After a while, the family members received ransom call of Rs 50 lakh.

Rewa police swung into action and identified the suspected abductors. Also, the police in neighbouring Sidhi and Satna districts were alerted. While the family of the police remained in touch with the abductors, the police detained some kin of the suspected abductors too.

The family and the boy were reunited in the night in Rewa in presence of public relations and energy minister Rajendra Shukla, who monitored the situation.
