"The police was informed immediately after my abduction but no action was taken," Trivedi told reporters in Raipur.

Blaming BJP candidate Dilip Singh Judev for the assault, Shailesh said that the abductors were shouting slogans of 'Jay Judev (Long live Judev)' and threatening him not to campaign for Congress nominee Renu Jogi, wife of Ajit Jogi.

Trivedi, along with two of his associates -- Girish Verma and Prahalad Patel -- were abducted from the Bilaspur Lok Sabha constituency on the night of April 15, by some unidentified persons, who later dumped the trio in the jungles of the neighbouring Korba district after assaulting them.

Shailesh was found at Bhaisma village and admitted to hospital by his relatives the next day, police said.
