‘Abhay and I are on the same page’

, got the thumbs-up at the festivals, but this time, the response has been fabulous,” gushes lead actress Tannishtha Chatterjee.

She recalls stepping into the hall at the Doha Film Festival, shortly after a screening, when a lady shouted, “Hey, that’s Tannishtha Chatterjee.” The actress couldn’t believe that she had been recognised outside her character. “It was a first for me. I can never forget that moment,” asserts Chatterjee who plays a gypsy in Road, Movie.

So, does she find Abhay Deol hot? “He’s exactly the kind of person I’d presumed he would be, based on his choice of films,” she laughs, adroitly side-stepping the question. “We like the same kind of movies and music. Both of us live out of our suitcases. So we were always on the same page. I thought he was fantabulous in Dev D. I love Anurag Kashyap’s work and I have still to get over Tauba tera jalwa...”

Meanwhile, Lucy Liu has completed work and headed home. But actress Tannishtha Chatterjee is still going ga-ga over the Charlie’s Angels’ actress who’s just turned director with Half The Sky.

“It didn’t seem as if it was her first. It’s always wonderful to have an actress behind the camera,” says Chatterjee, who plays the central character in the film based on a book that has four stories set in different countries. “I play a real-life character and it’s an ethereal experience to live someone else’s life,” she says. Chatterjee herself plans to turn director soon.

“Every time I watch a film that inspires me, I want to make a film like that. I hope it happens soon,” she smiles.
