About 4,000 persons are 'missing' in Chhattisgarh since 2006, state Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar told the state assembly on Tuesday.

About 4,000 persons are 'missing' in Chhattisgarh since 2006, state Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar told the state assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question of Congress' Dharamjit Singh, the minister said that police registered cases of 17,870 missing people, including 10,841 women, across the state from 2006 till June 28, 2009, but 13,544 of these were traced while some 4,000 were yet to be traced.

He said cases of 1,954 missing people were registered with various police stations in the state only this year till June 28.
