ABVP activists ransack missionary school

The BJP's student wing - ABVP activists staged a demonstration before the school for allegedly insulting the National Anthem during the Republic Day function on January 26.

As the ABVP activists' indulged in ransacking the school property, police cane-charged them to disperse from the spot and arrested around 15 of its workers, Bhopal Superintendent of Police (SP) Jaideep Prasad told PTI.

Police also arrested the school Principal, Thomas Malancheruvil on the issue of allegedly disrespecting the National Anthem, the SP said.

However, the principal and the ABVP workers were released by the court on bail, police said.

The secretary of the Isai Mahasangh, Roy Thatta alleged that ABVP workers have created ruckus in the school and damaged the principal's room, staff room and glasspanes of windows and doors.

He alleged that Gupta was given the responsibility to organise the Republic Day function and when he failed to make necessary arrangements on that day and arrived for the function late, the principal after singing of the National Anthem and vote of thanks announced his suspension for three days from the school for failing to perform his duties.
