Bharatiya Janata Party MP Yogi Adityanath said it was an assault on the sentiments of a large section of the society. Unless appeasement policies were given up, such attacks would continue, he said. He demanded that SIMI be branded a terrorist organisation. Adityanath said resentment was brewing among members of a particular community over the attempted attack. Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad office-bearers Shrikant Mishra, Vinay Singh and others burnt an effigy of the Union Government at Chetna Crossing. In a meeting, members of the ABVP said the entire country was in the grip of Islamic terrorism and all the religious and other important places of a particular community were under attack. He raised the issue of an attack on the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and the blasts at Sankat Mochan temple in Varanasi. Suman Srivastava, RK Pathak and others said this was a plan to weaken India.

They accused the Union Government of failure to rein in terrorist organisations.

They said the patience of the people was running out.

They said the Union Government should take strict steps to check repeated attacks on temples and sensitive places, otherwise it would create a law and order problem.
