NEARLY 1500 students and teachers from four divisions of central India will take part in a three-day regional convention to be organised by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Khalsa College grounds from December 1.
ABVP regional secretary Bharat Parikh told reporters here today that 2006-07 being the birth centenary year of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) second ‘sarsanghchalak’ Madhav Sadashiv Rao Golwalkar and revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad, ABVP has decided to celebrate the event in a grand manner.
A ‘samajik samrasta yatra’ that will start from Betul (where ‘guruji’ was kept in custody) and traverse through Hoshangabad, Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Bhabhra (the birthplace of Azad) in Jhabua, will arrive in Indore and culminate in a congregation on December 1.
A symposium on ‘social equitability’ and the release of two proposals on current educational scenario and a white paper on the state will be the main events of the opening day. Voting for electing the new regional working committee of the Parishad will take place during the evening session. Mahamandleshwar Swami Avdheshanand Giri will formally inaugurate the convention at Khalsa Stadium grounds at 9.30 am on December 2.
A procession taken out from Khalsa College at 4 pm will pass through various parts of the City before culminating at Janata Chowk at Rajwada. ABVP organisational secretary (north) Ramesh Pappa from Chandigarh will be the chief speaker on the occasion. ABVP national secretary Vishnudutt Sharma will inaugurate an exhibition focusing on the lives of Golvalkar and Azad and life of tribals in the State on day three. The exhibition will also highlight the activities of ABVP in central India.
