STAR-STUDDED Arera Cricket Academy (ACA) today entered the semifinal of the first Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Memorial Cricket Tournament being organised at Bab-e-Aali Stadium. ACA registered a thumping 195-run win over the inexperienced All Saints’ College team.
As was expected, ACA never allowed the weak All Saints’ College to gain upper hand in any department of the game. After winning the toss, Arera team opted to bat first. Capitalising on the opportunity of batting first on batsmen-friendly wicket, Arera team piled up 354 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.
It was the highest score in the tournament so far. Raja Ali, who is known for quick fire innings, scored highest individual score of the tournament. His ruthless innings of 174 runs off 95 deliveries saw 13 sixes and 12 boundaries. Mohnish Mishra, another star from Bhopal, also played according the expectations.
Though he failed to complete his century, he troubled bowlers enough by his consistent and responsible inning. He scored 89 runs. Ankit Shrivastava and Jyotiraditya contributed 41 and 13 runs, respectively.
In reply, All Saints’ batsmen stumbled as all players were out for 159 in 35 overs. Yogesh Rao was the only batsman to offer any resistance to the lethal bowling attack of ACA. Sunil Pandey and Ankit Shrivastava shared four wickets each.
