THE ACADEMIC fraternity of Allahabad has shown full faith in the Allahabad University (AU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Rajan G Harshe and called his peace march an example of Gandhian mode of protest to make the wrong doers realise their mistake and to guide the lost students towards academics.

The teachers and academicians have also praised Prof Harshe's approach towards development of the varsity.
Dr Badri Narayan of Govind Ballabh Pant Social Science Institute, Jhusi, termed the VC's peace march as a mode to express his feelings based on Gandhian ideology.
He said that such a mode of expression is adopted by powerful personalities who are often misunderstood as weak persons.
Dr Narayan said that Prof Harshe was a great visionary and has the vision to develop the varsity and ultimately the development of the society.
His peace march has been misinterpreted by some persons and such people failed to draw the correct inference from the peace march.
"Allahabad was emerging as a knowledge city and thus the entire educational fraternity, the writers, journalists and other citizens should come forward and support the VC who has been consistently struggling for uplift of the varsity and the city", said Dr Narayan.
Allahabad University Teachers Association (AUTA) president Dr Ram Kishore Shastri has also expressed faith in the policies of Prof Harshe. He said that Prof Harshe has always given priority to academic excellence.

{{/usCountry}}"Being a peace loving person Prof Harshe was hurt by the recent incidents in the varsity as he never expected such an atmosphere. The peace march by the VC was an expression of his feelings and displayed his ideology based on Gandhian principles.
I support Prof Harshe and expect that the varsity will once again regain its past glory as the 'Oxford of East'", said Dr Shastri.
Meanwhile AUTA (Y) president Dr Yogeshwar Tiwari said "The peace-march taken out by the VC had an objective and Prof Harshe has been successful in sending a message to the students, residents and academicians of the city. I fully back Prof Harshe on the issue".
Dr Tiwari said that AU had a glorious past and the varsity lost its lustre owing to poor governance and lack of resources in the varsity in the past few years.
Prof Harshe has joined the varsity at a very crucial stage when the varsity was under transitional phase, changing over to the Central from State university.
With adequate resources now, Prof Harshe needs opportunity to prove his ability and to restore the pristine glory of the varsity. The VC looking for the right opportunity needs support and peace of mind to implement his policies to take the varsity to greater heights, added Dr Tiwari.
