An accountant is battling for life after gunmen shot at him in his fourth-floor office in a commercial tower in Gurgaon on Tuesday.

The assailants, numbering two, fired at Dalchand five times, the police said.
Dalchand, 45, who works at Pooja Placement Agency, was hit by three bullets, one in the chest and two in the legs.

"The patient is critical and has been given eight units of blood because of excessive bleeding. One bullet hit him just below the heart while two hit him in the legs," said Dr SP Yadav of Pushpanjali Hospital, Gurgaon.

The incident occurred around 2.30 pm. Reaching the fourth-floor office of the placement agency at Ganpati Arcade in the heart of the city, the assailants, aged around 20, fired at Dalchand.

The owner of the placement agency, Ramesh Yadav, was not present in office at the time. As the gunmen made their way out, they fired two shots in the air to clear their way, said Hanif Qureshi, Gurgaon Superintendent of Police.
